• Check the exact preparation level of your individual bat before use, as preparation can vary depending on supplier stock.
• A grain-face protected English willow bat may still require appropriate knocking-in before being used against a new leather cricket ball unless specifically supplied fully match ready.
• Carefully prepare exposed edges and the toe and follow any preparation instructions supplied with the bat.
• Begin with throwdowns or controlled net sessions using an older cricket ball before progressing to competitive match use.
