🏏 Gray-Nicolls Spectre 550 Play Now Adult Cricket Bat – Grade 4 English Willow Bat
The Gray-Nicolls Spectre 550 Play Now Adult Cricket Bat is a beautifully balanced English willow cricket bat designed for players who want control, timing and effortless power through the hitting zone.
Crafted from Grade 4 English Willow, the Spectre 550 offers excellent value for club cricketers and developing adult players looking for a lightweight, well-balanced bat with quality Gray-Nicolls performance.
With a modern mid profile, pronounced spine running through to the toe, rounded POWERCURVE face and slight bow, this bat is built to deliver a strong blend of power, control and fast hands.
This is a Play Now cricket bat, meaning it has been factory prepared to reduce preparation time. However, additional knocking-in and gradual net use with an older ball is still recommended before full match use against a leather cricket ball.

Choosing a cricket bat comes down to four things: size, weight, willow and how it feels in your hands.
- Size: most adults use a Short Handle bat. For juniors, choose by height, and if they're between sizes, go smaller.
- Weight: pick the heaviest bat you can swing comfortably for a whole innings, not the heaviest you can lift.
- Willow: English willow is lighter and livelier for hard-ball cricket. Kashmir willow is tougher and more affordable, great for a first bat.
- Knocking in: a new English willow bat needs knocking in before you face a leather ball, unless it's sold as Play Now or Match Ready.
