Choose a cricket helmet that meets the safety standard, fits snugly and has a neck guard.
- Safety standard: look for BS7928:2013 on the label. BS7928:2013+A1:2019 means it's also been tested with a neck guard.
- Fit: measure your head about 2 cm above your eyebrows. The helmet should feel snug and not rock when you shake your head.
- Neck guard: compulsory for batters facing pace in Cricket Australia competitions, and recommended for anyone facing pace bowling.
- Replace it: after a heavy hit or any visible damage, even if it looks fine.
