🏏 Gray-Nicolls Vector 550 Play Now Adult Cricket Bat
The Gray-Nicolls Vector 550 Play Now Adult Cricket Bat is designed for developing and club-level players who want dependable performance, easy pickup and strong durability.
Its mid profile features a sweeping spine extending towards the toe, creating a generous hitting area across the blade. The slight bow and feather-light pickup help the bat move smoothly through each shot, while the generous edges support confident stroke play.
The bat uses laminated English Willow with EdgeTec reinforcement, helping provide durability and consistent rebound at a more accessible price point. The rounded POWERCURVE face enhances feel through contact, making the Vector 550 suitable for regular club cricket, school cricket and training.
The Play Now preparation means the bat has been pressed, oiled and hand knocked-in at the factory. Gray-Nicolls also states that Play Now bats receive protective facing and toe protection, significantly reducing the preparation required before match use.

Choosing a cricket bat comes down to four things: size, weight, willow and how it feels in your hands.
- Size: most adults use a Short Handle bat. For juniors, choose by height, and if they're between sizes, go smaller.
- Weight: pick the heaviest bat you can swing comfortably for a whole innings, not the heaviest you can lift.
- Willow: English willow is lighter and livelier for hard-ball cricket. Kashmir willow is tougher and more affordable, great for a first bat.
- Knocking in: a new English willow bat needs knocking in before you face a leather ball, unless it's sold as Play Now or Match Ready.
